Food: We ordered 16 items and they were all delicious. From the rolls to the edamame and the sashimi... everything was delicious and the small portions allow us to try many things instead of getting one large roll that is only so-so. I was a little bummed they were out of some items though that we wanted to try... probably the biggest downside. Atmosphere: The bullet train is the best part, super fun for the kids to order stuff and watch it get served. And it is easy to order and the website tracks your purchases! This allowed the kids to order whatever they wanted and add as we went along. It's just a fun experience that we don't have where we live. Service: I'm reading some of the reviews on here... look people, if the food is great, prices are good but the service is sub par, make sure the review reflects an "average" score. We had no problems with our service, our server and cashier were both very kind to our family. Maybe people should stop being Daren's and Karen's to the people who serve your food...? But I guess... what do I know. We also had to wait a while for a table which I understand, but still that kind of sucked. But I will say it was worth the wait. Price: It's not cheap by any means. You gotta watch out because the tab can run up pretty fast, but generally you can get 12 pieces of a roll for @15$ so it's not too bad. The thing that we did (oops...) was order stuff while we were still hungry and then it all came out and we were getting full... but we had ordered more that hadn't come out yet. Doh! So just keep an eye out, it's not super cheap, but because of the small portions, the pricing looks good at first. Overall: The family loves this place, we also went to one of them in Oahu a few years back. The downsides were that they were out of a few things and that we had to wait a while for a table. Both were minor in scope, but this is definitely a place we want to come back to.

I must admit, I was a little apprehensive after reading the recent reviews of this place. However, I'm pleased to report that I didn't find any roaches or hair in or on my food. Ordered a wide array of items and there were no issues. Food tasted the same as other Genki restaurants. Please note: They do not use the IPad / tablet for ordering anymore. You must use your phone by scanning the QR code or ask for menus. ***press button for service; to order, need refills, etc. The only negative was that the server didn't thank me upon leaving.

11/01/2021 Genki Sushi 111 E Puainako St Hilo Hilo, HI 96720 My sister and I visited for dinner. After a short wait we were seated. I didn't remember how things worked; order on the touch screen and then pile the finished plates on your table. You order with the touch screen display at your table and the sushi arrives on a track on the little bullet train. The selections were good with lots of local stuff which we passed; spam, hot dogs and etc. We ended up with 10 dishes for 50 bucks which is a pretty good deal, anywhere. Not outstanding but a very good deal. Repeated and will again.
